Several powerful tornados hit central Indiana on Friday, March 31, 2023 as well as other areas in the Midwest, leaving a trail of destruction behind. Lives were lost, and homes and businesses have been destroyed. The following organizations are providing aid to those affected by providing shelter, distributing food, water and clothing, and assessing long and short-term needs. Torrential rain this weekend led to devastating flooding in the Middle Tennessee Area. In support of the communities impacted by the floods, Bright Funds has established the 2021 Tennessee Flood Response and Recovery Fund. This Fund is comprised of pre-vetted nonprofits providing emergency response in the region. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. We have initially selected organizations that are providing immediate relief needs. The composition of the nonprofits in this Fund are subject to change as we learn more about the needs on the ground.

People and families are considered poor when they lack the economic resources necessary to experience a minimal living standard. Official U.S. Census Bureau statistics estimate that 37 million persons, 11.4 percent of the total population, were poor in the United States in 2020. Despite the blessing of prosperity in America for almost 250 years there are still Americans in need in so many places and for so many basic things. The community of Greenfield, Iowa was hit by a series of storms and tornadoes on May 21, 2024, resulting in lives lost and leaving many others injured and displaced. Homes, businesses, and infrastructure have been destroyed, schools have closed early for the year, and many are in need of support. The selected nonprofit organizations are providing resources for those impacted by the storms as the town of Greenfield works towards short-term and long-term recovery. A series of tornadoes struck the Middle Tennessee communities of Clarksville, Hendersonville, Madison, and several others on December 9th, 2023, resulting in six deaths and dozens of injuries. Devastating damage has been done to businesses, homes, and infrastructure, and many are facing displacement and lack of access to food, water, shelter, and medical care. Crews are currently clearing debris throughout the impacted areas in order to facilitate search and rescue efforts. The following organizations are currently on the ground in Tennessee providing essential disaster recovery resources and support to those in need. Your donation to this Fund will help support these organizations as they work together to ensure that those impacted receive the support they need.
